hurdles

gates Ash gate after preservative (creosote substitute) treatment.

The gates to match the wattle hurdles are made from a green Douglas fir main frame and an infill of cleft hazel wattle. All are made with dry joints secured by brass screws, with the intention that when the wattle needs replacing, the frame can be dismantled and a new infill made to order to replace the original. Initially the Douglas frame has a very attractive natural reddish tinge to it, but it will readily take a stain. All gate furniture can be supplied if required.

The gates to match the style of the gate hurdles are made in more or less the same way as the cleft gate hurdles except that the bracers run slightly differently to give extra support.
